Free meals for the students and family members of KCHS

As many of you know, Don and I have been providing financial support for educational scholarships at the Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport, CT for many years. We have been more then gratified with the outstanding results the students have achieved, due in no small measure to the wonderful education and encouragement they have received from the entire staff. But today we are writing to you in order to help us raise funds to provide free meals for these students and their families.

Kolbe Cathedral Catholic High School is a college preparatory school located in the heart of Bridgeport, CT. Its long held mission has been to empower its students with the knowledge, skill and character formation needed to unlock their full human potential as future leaders both in the workplace and in their communities. Last year 100% of all seniors graduated and there was a near 100% college acceptance rate. With each passing year the economic conditions in the City of Bridgeport, home to 93% of the school's students, has deteriorated causing significant challenges to the families of our students. The onset of the Covid 19 virus has created additional challenges for those families many of which live paycheck to paycheck and many others who are single mothers. These families are now experiencing food insecurity and it is our desire to help them.

With the kind assistance of the school staff we have set up a program whereby free boxed dinners will be provided twice per week to the families in need. A local caterer will be cooking the meals and boxing them. The caterer is charging $15.00 per meal and each meal will be feed a family of six. The 300 students and parents will be made aware of this program by the school’s staff. The parents who wish to participate in the program will sign up and then be assigned days and times when they could pick up the meals at the school. We anticipate that approximately 200-250 families will participate in this program each week

We have provided the initial funding for this program and we are appealing to you to help us in this critical endeavor. You can help either by donating, but if you cannot donate perhaps you can help us spread the word about this fundraising initiative to those who might be able to donate.

100% of all donations will go towards purchasing the meals.

All donations will be tax deductible and Kolbe Cathedral High School will provide you with a letter for tax purposes.

You can either donate online at the Kolbe Cathedral High School Website and click on the 'donate' tab and then click on the Feed KCHS tab. Or if you prefer you can send a check to:
