Child Protection

Safe Environment

As a school of the Diocese of Bridgeport, Kolbe Cathedral is committed to protecting the children entrusted to our care. We participate in the Diocese's Safe Environment program so that every student learns in a community that is watchful, accountable, and safe.

Our Promise to Families

A community built on trust and care.

The safety and dignity of every young person is inseparable from our Catholic mission. Through the Diocese of Bridgeport's Safe Environment program, the adults who serve our students are trained, screened, and held to clear standards — and anyone with a concern has a direct, confidential way to raise it.

How We Keep Students Safe

Three commitments, one standard.

01

Diocesan Safe Environment Program

Kolbe takes part in the Diocese of Bridgeport's Safe Environment program — the diocese-wide framework for protecting children and young people in Catholic schools and parishes.

02

Safe-Environment Training

Every adult who works with or coaches our students completes VIRTUS safe-environment training and certification, the Diocese of Bridgeport's program for recognizing and responding to the warning signs of abuse.

03

Mandated Reporters

Under Connecticut law, school staff are mandated reporters — legally required to report suspected child abuse or neglect to the state Department of Children and Families.

What This Means for Families

Watchful by design.

Protecting children is everyday practice at Kolbe, not a policy on a shelf. These are the commitments families can expect from the adults who serve their children.

  • Adults who work with students participate in the Diocese of Bridgeport's safe-environment training.
  • Staff are screened in accordance with diocesan requirements before working with minors.
  • Every employee understands their duty, under Connecticut law, to report suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Students, parents, and staff have a clear, confidential way to report a concern.
